Work Culture at PHMO

Over the last two years, the modern workplace has evolved to address the needs brought on by the pandemic. Duke, and PHMO, have embraced these changes to ensure we are meeting the needs of our employees, as well as the providers and patients we serve in the community. Following the guidelines set by Duke, PHMO continues to offer a variety of work arrangements that include fully remote, hybrid and onsite options. These options will continue to be offered to those roles that will allow for flexible work arrangements. We utilize modern digital communications tools to stay connected while working remotely, so that all team members have the support they need to succeed and stay in touch with their colleagues.

PHMO also continues to follow Duke Health’s COVID guidelines to ensure that every team member can stay safe at work. To learn more about Duke’s Remote Work Arrangements, click HERE.

One of the pillars of Duke Health’s Strategic Plan is to Foster Joy in Work by promoting a nurturing environment that is diverse, inclusive, and just – where everyone is deeply connected. In support of this vision, PHMO has created team member-led initiatives that recognize and celebrate the diversity of our team and advance the goals established in the strategic vision:

  • Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee - The Committee’s purpose is to increase the demographic diversity of the PHMO employee population, leverage such diversity to improve organizational performance, and to help develop a safe and supportive environment where PHMO promotes a sense of inclusion and belonging.
  • Work Culture Task Force - The Taskforce will work to cultivate a culture of belonging within the organization through collaboration, increasing teamwork and transparency, creating a safe environment for feedback, boosting employee morale, and developing rapport with leadership.
