Improving Access to Federal Disability Benefits
LATCH Disability Services improves access to disability benefits using SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access and Recovery (SOAR), a national program designed to increase access to the disability income benefit administered by the Social Security Administration (SSA) for eligible patients. SOAR disability case workers, part of the LATCH team, provide assistance to eligible LATCH enrollees who may qualify for federal disability benefits.
Who is eligible for SOAR?
LATCH enrollees who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness, have a mental illness, medical impairment and/or a co-occurring substance use disorder.
What services do SOAR disability case workers provide?
SOAR disability case workers aid individuals throughout the entire disability process, increasing the chances of approval for disability benefits. Case workers meet with patients, request medical records, complete applications, work with local providers to strengthen case management and remain in constant communication with the local office to advocate for a successful disability application.
How successful are SOAR case workers at securing benefits?
Patients who work with SOAR disability case workers have benefits approval rates that exceed the national average
