I have a great love for Durham and the Duke community and love working towards a healthier Durham. I currently serve on the community advisory board for Project Baseline, and I am a former community health organizer for Durham Health Innovations. I graduated from Livingstone College and am originally from Durham. In my spare time, I love walking the American Tobacco Trail and visiting Duke Gardens.
I am a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) and completed my Master of Public Health degree at George Washington University. I found my passion for health education through my own type 1 diabetes diagnosis. Previously, I led health education and screening programs focused on helping patients manage their blood sugar, blood pressure, and BMI. I enjoy developing relationships with patients and supporting them overcoming large obstacles through small, tangible steps. Outside of work, I enjoy completing DIY projects and cheering on the Washington Nationals.

I graduated from Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC (J-C-S-U!!!) with a bachelors degree in Political Science, and I'm currently working on a masters degree in Public Administration from Strayer University. I have been a part of Duke Health since 2015, and my absolute favorite part of working for Duke is caring and assisting my patients with their healthcare needs. In my down time, I love spending time with my family and watching my children grow and flourish into little awesome people.
I have many years of experience working with patients going through hardships, such as homelessness or lack of healthcare coverage. Within my role, I have been able to lift some burdens off of these patients and assist them with gaining healthcare coverage and connecting them with other agencies and resources that can be beneficial for them. I love working with the community and knowing that the work we do can play a positive part in people's health and well-being.
I am from Greenville, NC. I received my Bachelors in Social Work from the iIllustrious North Carolina A&T State University and my Masters of Science in Gerontology from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Often times, I like to tell people that I did not choose social work but it chose me. I am passionate about educating and assisting those in my community to receive the assistance they need.
I am a North Carolina native with several years of experience assisting people with connecting to healthcare and other community resources. I enjoy this work and serve to make a difference.
