Care Manager

I was born and raised in the Triangle but have lived the past 11 years in Staunton, VA, where I worked as a social worker at a psychiatric hospital. During my time there, I obtained my MSW and my LCSW and found that I am passionate about helping individuals navigate the complicated healthcare system and being a source of hope and encouragement to people experiencing crisis. I am also very passionate about how physical and mental wellness is connected, and I value providing care for the whole person. I am excited to return to my roots in the Triangle and be a part of the DukeWELL team!

I am originally from Charlotte, NC. I graduated with my BSN from Winston-Salem State University, and I received my MSN from UNC Charlotte. Over the years I’ve worked in the OR, public health, behavior health, and case management. I was drawn to nursing because of my desire to care for, support, and help patients!

I’m originally from Western NC and moved to the Triangle in 2005 to attend NC State University, where I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in social work. I’ve been a licensed clinical social worker at Duke Health since 2013, primarily working with patients and families navigating the organ transplant process. My experience has shown me how deeply health impacts our quality of life, and I enjoy building relationships with patients, understanding what matters most to them, and helping them reach their personal and health-related goals.

I am a Clinical Nurse IV and registered nurse with a background in ambulatory care and a passion for caring for underserved populations. I believe every patient deserves to feel seen, heard, and supported, especially when navigating barriers that can make accessing healthcare more difficult. I enjoy building relationships with my patients, advocating for their needs, and connecting them with resources that can make a meaningful difference in their health and quality of life.

I began my career in health care in behavioral health as a patient care technician and later a team leader for a virtual monitoring telehealth team at the Medical University of South Carolina. After receiving my nursing degree, I worked as an RN level IV NICU for several years, before becoming a critical care float pool nurse.

I love caring for people, especially the geriatric population. I have worked in retirement communities, nursing homes, hospitals, and primary care clinics. I am a team player and a fast learner. I enjoy assisting patients reach their optimal health.

I began my nursing career in 2016, and I have experience in emergency care, hospice, dialysis, wellness leadership, and home health. I enjoy working with patients and families to help them understand and navigate their health. I am proud to be a part of the Duke team and to make a positive difference in the lives of those I serve.

I am a licensed clinical social worker with ten years of experience across healthcare, school-based, and mental health settings. Originally from rural North Carolina, I earned both a BSW and MSW from North Carolina Central University and am currently pursuing a PhD with research focused on stress among school-based social workers.

Since joining Duke in February 2020, I have gained experience in cardiothoracic surgery, PACU, retinal injection services, triage nursing, and nursing leadership. I am passionate about building meaningful relationships with patients and supporting them in achieving their wellness goals.

I began my nursing career on a medical-surgical unit at Duke Regional Hospital (DRH), where I developed a strong clinical foundation. I later transitioned to the Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit at Duke University Hospital (DUH). The majority of my nursing career has been spent at Davis Ambulatory Surgical Center, where I have held a variety of roles. My experience includes serving as a preceptor, charge nurse, perioperative nurse, and pre-anesthesia interview nurse.
