Congratulations to one of the recipients of the 2024 Duke Presidential Awards: Atalaysha Churchwell PhD, LCMHC, LCAS, NCC, CCM, Director, DukeWELL Care Management!
Dr. Churchwell has been recognized for her work creating two new patient services for the DukeWELL team:
- Collaborative Care Management: supporting adolescents and adults with depression
- AMH+ Care Management: bringing high-quality case management into primary care clinics to help children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities or serious mental illness
“Each step of the way, Dr. Churchwell has been guided by the desire to build a respectful and trustworthy team that works well together and treats our patients with these values,” said nominator Dr. Gary Maslow, Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. “She is a unique leader who takes on new challenges, always with the goal of improving the care of our shared patients. Every time an issue or challenge arises, she asks ‘What is best for our patients?’”
Dr. Churchwell has been an integral part of the evolution of DukeWELL Care Management since its creation in 2017, and she continues to advance the PHMO mission of connecting patients, empowering providers, and building healthy communities!
