Convert Your Patient to a OneTouch Meter at No Charge

With the most recent 2014 Express Scripts Formulary, OneTouch monitors are the preferred products and continue to be covered by the plan whereas other meters are not.  There are several ways to ensure your patients receive a meter at NO CHARGE to the patient or the plan.  If a prescription for a meter is sent into Express Scripts, it will be processed as any other Rx and the patient will be charged.

In an effort to convert your patient in a cost effective manner, Express Scripts has a variety of ways you can help provide your patients with a preferred OneTouch meter at NO CHARGE to them or to the plan.

For patients who need to convert, consider the following:

  • Provide patients with a meter from your office (the Duke outpatient offices have received One Touch meters from Express Scripts/DukeWell.)  If you need additional monitors, please send an email to lee.jackson@dm.duke.edu.
  • The Duke Outpatient pharmacies also have been provided with meters to give to patients of the Duke plans –your patient may be able to pick up one from the Duke South or Duke Children’s pharmacy.
  • You may provide your patient with the flyer attached to this email.  All impacted members were sent this offer letter twice but some may not have acted on it.  The phone number or the website address may be used by your patient to obtain a new meter from the manufacturer.  The code listed is only for Express Scripts members – including the Duke plans and will not work for members of other plans.

Additionally, please remember that the 3 covered One Touch products do not all use the same test strip.  Before you write a prescription for the strip, please know which meter your patient is using.  Attached is a reference on how to order.

  • OneTouch Ultra and Ultra Mini – One Touch Ultra Blue test strips
